From March 21st to 22nd, BNUZ successfully held Colonel-Level Finals of the Challenge Cup Competition ——National Extracurricular Scientific and Technological Works Competition for college students in Liyun building.

After fierce competition, participated works about water protection designed by Zitao Huang from the School of Real Estate, about the application of internet carried out by Ziheng Qi from the School of Engineering Technology, and policy research developed by Qiqi Zhang from the Xingzhi Academic Workshop separately won the first prize of outstanding works in natural science, technological inventions, and philosophy and sociology.

It is reported that 50 teams participated in this competition last October. In the first primaries at the end of last November, 15 teams directly advanced to the finals with outstanding designing works. In addition, 3 teams passed to the final competition after repeated revisions by receiving advices from teachers. In the Colonel-Level Finals, 18 teams, including 88 students, joined in the competition. The submitted works are 3 in natural science, 11 in philosophy and sociology, and 4 in technological inventions. Students presented their works through preparing speech and answering questions, which were proposed by judges in line with their creative ideas, research process, and the meaning and values of the work. Improving suggestions were also provided to the participated teams.

After the competition on March 22nd, teacher Jijian Hou from the School of Real Estate offered a final speech. He pointed out that it was great to see participated students can seize the trends of current China, develop practical research, and offer feasible recommendations to existing problems in society. Apart from these, realities should be considered, and distinguished features and new ideas can be further developed. It is also significant to investigate the feasibility of proposed suggestions in ensuring the value of presented works.

The National Challenge Cup Competition includes two affiliated events for college students, which are Business Plan Competition and Extracurricular Scientific and Technological Works Competition. This is the fourth year BNUZ takes part in the activity. In the last year, BNUZ students won provincial prizes with the business plan of protecting Mangroves in Qiao Island. The project was adopted by Zhuhai government as blueprint for ecological protection, which showed its feasibility and social values in practice. There are several BNUZ participated works have been put into actual operations either. Until now, the best among them has attracted more than 10 millions of investment.
