At 8：00 am. of Dec. 15th, 2013, Zhuhai International Half Marathon with “Run in Love” as its theme unveiled its start in front of Zhuhai Municipal Museum. In total, there are around 2300 BNUZ students and faculty registered for this event, which is three times compared with the registration number of the event last year. This year there are 67 BNUZ faculties attended this event.

This international sport event was approved by General Administration of Sport of China, co-organized by Chinese Athletic Association and Zhuhai Municipal Government. It attracted 23,884 participants from 25 countries including the USA, Belgium, and Morocco etc. It consists of three projects, namely half marathon, 10 km marathon, mini marathon. Participants can register for each project as Mixed Pair (Couple), which makes it the first marathon in China to promote “run in love”.

Mr. Zhao Shunlai, Deputy Dean of BNUZ School of Sports Leisure, is the outfield chief judge for this event. He said, "it is happy to see BNUZ students actively participate in this event as this event is a great chance for students to feel the sport sprit and enjoy it. " He also hopes that students can develop sport habits and be aware that good health is a responsibility. To successfully facilitate this event, 66 volunteers from BNUZ Athletic Sport Committee and Sports Department of School of Leisure Sports has working hard for over 40 days to prepare for it.

Though it was rainy and cold during the whole race, BNUZ participants stick to the end. They not only display what BNUZ students like, but also well demonstrate marathon spirit. To promote marathon and encourage citizens to do sports, from Dec. 15th of this year, Zhuhai municipal government will set the day to hold Zhuhai Marathon of each year the green travel day.
